Take a minute to go say hello!! - Cassy-Blue is organizing a Project Educate week for the Stock&Resources galleries in the week of January 4. Make sure to mark your calendar for it! What is Project Educate? The name already gives it away, it's an informative event lasting around one week and featuring plenty of interesting articles all around the chosen topics. You can still contribute with your article ideas until Dec 26! Here's the announcement:
Stock and Resources PE Week: Join the Fun!Hello everyone! We are going to be holding a Stock and Resources week over at projecteducate the week of January 4, 2016!
I'm currently in the planning stage for the week and am looking for people who'd like to write articles about stock or share some ideas of what they'd like to see for the PE Week!
First if you don't know what projecteducate is, go check them out! It is a community project that is all about promoting artistic growth through learning and knowledge. There's been some really informative articles that have come through the project. Stock & Resources has done PE weeks in the past. You can see the last stock PE week on the front page of StockandResources to get an idea of what the PE week is all about.
Are you interested in contributing? Great! Here's some of the things that people have done in the past:
interviews with stockers and stock users
tutorial/educational articles about stock i.e. how to mak - And there is more! Cassy-Blue is also launching a Stock&Resources newsletter now, so let her know if you have interesting stuff to share.
Stock Newsletter: Send me your stuff!!Hey everyone!I want to start a monthly newsletter for the Stock & Resources Gallery! It'll be kinda like the photo manipulation one where it collects together community happenings etc but with a twist.
There will be three or four sections to the newsletter:
Community Relations Stuff/NewsContestsFeature journalsShow and Tell
I am looking for your contests and your features . I find half of the stock I feature as a daily deviation through features. Please comment with thumbs so I can put them in the newsletter. I'm looking to get it sent out next Friday (12/11).
Show and Tell is where you guys send me thumbs of one of your stock images you really like or of one recent art piece using your stock you really like with a couple words about it. I want to see how your stock is being used or your stock you want some more love on
Also if you have community pro - Have you heard of Photobash.org? They offer huge packs of royalty free stock images for low-budget, and they also offer a bunch of freebies once in a while. It's worth checking out. Perfect for aspiring matte painters and concept artists!
Stock Treasures
This small spotlight comes with help from the awesome Cassy-Blue, who forwarded some spectacular, overlooked stocks to me. Don't miss these!

A special Christmas present - ContestContest by PendragonArts-GEA(10th)
A Special Christmas Present CONTEST!
I have a son who is now 28. He lives alone and has both Autism and Schizophrenia. He is both sad, lonely, and is forced to live a very isolated life. No one really understands the pain of being mentally ill and not able to fit in with society and even other people in general, unless you, yourself are, have a direct connection or relationship with someone that carries this themselves. Remember those who are alone for various reason or who have a hard time getting through the holidays each year for various reasons as you create and during the coming holiday season. Bless you!
10 years ago, when we were able to still live together, he dabbled for hours creating his various sketchings. He doesn't draw any more and I found a few of them that I held onto over the years and would like to help make his imagination come alive and make this Christmas special for him. He loves the mecha genre an

Xmas Contest - Greeting cArtsHello people!(18th)
This year the contest "Christmas Special" is special not only because it is Christmassy but also for two other reasons; It is organized in collaboration with the team of aRts-Creation and is meant to help others with our and your art.
Christmas is a time of joy for many people, and it is the moment when we give more to do to make happy our loved ones and our friends looking for the right gift to give a smile. We want to extend this gift to other people that you have surely directly or indirectly among your affections, I speak of the people who are fighting every day against an evil that destroys mercilessly, cancer, an illness that now everyone knows, because it is almost in all families.
Now what does all this with a contest? Well I'll tell you!
The theme is to create a greeting card for Christmas, also simple, with only Merry Christmas for exa

It's THAT time of year again for many of us in the Castle. Leaves are off the trees, the scenery becomes stark blacks, grays and whites. Many celebrate Christmas, Chanukah and the changing of the season. It seems a grand time for getting out our models in Victorian and/or Steampunk costumes, don't you think? So, this challenge will be about TWO things: Victorian/Steampunk imagery and models. AND, a wintry scene or "vibe." Easy, yes? Details below:
Hello Artists of the Castle...
The requirement for this challenge will be to show us a manip that includes at least one model wearing either Victorian or Steampunk clothing. If you choose Victorian you are not limited to "wealthy" looking people. Dickens' shared many characters who were NOT wealthy in his book "A Christmas Carol." Winter Wonders ChallengeGreetings Artists of the Castle..(20th)
It's THAT time of year again for many of us in the Castle. Leaves are off the trees, the scenery becomes stark blacks, grays and whites. Many celebrate Christmas, Chanukah and the changing of the season. This challenge will be all about creating art that invokes wonder, awe and magic in the season of Winter. (My apologies to those of you who are in the heat of Summer, etc. )
The requirements for this challenge will be to show us art that includes at least one model AND surround her/him with elements and/or scenery that is in keeping with Winter/wonder. You MAY use a 3D image, but consider that the more artistic effort that goes into your artwork-the more likely you are to be a winner in the challenge. The idea can be a design type of image OR a scenic one but it MUST be indicative of the Winter season. The model(s) should be the focus in either design or scenic.
the theme does NOT necessarily need to be "sweetness and li

Santa's home - contest (CLOSED)(31st)
It's time for a new contest!
The days are getting colder and slowly we are all getting into the christmas spirit - so I thought it's time to announce a new contest!
This time the theme is:
"Santa's home":
Where does Santa live?
Does he live alone, or is he married and lives with his wife?
Maybe with his reindeers or christmas elves?
Does he live in a cozy cottage or in a modern villa?
How does he prepare for christmas eve?
How does he like to spend his free time?
Maybe he isn't the friendly old man we think he is?
Show me how YOU imagine the place where Santa lives!
The simple rules
your entry must be a photomanipulation
your entry must be a new work created for the contest

Welcome to my second contest
3 years ago, I held my first contest Draw Tom Ripley Contest in 2012 with total 39,600 That event still makes me poor but very pleased until now.
In 2015, I am quite lucky in art. I won lots of points from many contests throughout the year.
Now I'm ready to hold a contest again and share 12,900 to other artists.
This event is called...
KING KONG AND I
CONTEST
Yes, the theme of this contest is about King Kong and a woman.
I believe that almost all of you have seen King Kong movies at least once from 1933, 1976 or 2005 version.
So, this event is like 10 year anniversary for the last time we saw King Kong.

Other recent news articles and features
We have collected a ton of articles and features from the past month. Take your pick of the features below - but first I would like to highlight the monthly interviews conducted by the group The-Imaginarium, which is an awesome group for photomanipulators since they offer tons of activities for members including contests, member features, polls and news. You can check out the first two interviews here:
Member of the Month - Interview with Mihaela VEvery month we select one member to be exposed on the homepage of the group and we will do a special feature and a short interview.

Special Feature and Interview with the incredible Mihaela-V
1. Can you give us a little insight as to what goes on in your mind when you create your pieces? Where do your ideas stem from?
I'm mostly inspired by my favourite movies, music and books. For example the Middle Earth movies, the recently released Crimson Peak and gothic literature like the works of E. A. Poe, Wuthering Heights, etc.
I also like creating my own characters, thinking about what their stories could be and what would they be doing. This also helps with building the world or scene around the characters.
2. Which of your pieces are you most fond of and can you tell us a little about them?
One of my pieces that I`m most fond of

1. Can you give us a little insight as to what goes on in your mind when you create your pieces? Where do your ideas stem from?
Usually I get my ideas from other media, such as movies, books, games, and music. As you can probably tell from my gallery I love all kinds of fantasy and scifi related stuff. Lately I have been reading the Dune series by Frank Herbert, which has been very inspiring. In terms of games, I enjoy fantasy RPGs a lot, like the Witcher or Dragon Age.
Sometimes I create artworks for artgroups I am member of, which often have themed exhibitions. Most of the time I have only a very rough idea in my mind, though
