This was supposed to be part of a poster project to raise awareness of the happenings and the bad living conditions in Haiti. I created this work in January right after the heavy earthquakes, but the whole project never really got going, which is a shame.

Mate , i love it , if you use this on an architecture project it will be more than great .
first and 2nd cliffs aren't that good why there size in perspective that's first & the 2nd is the quality of the stones inside the cliffs i think it has more details than it should be , but overall it's a great pic :) , lovely work good using of stock items and good blending techniques , love the over all color , using of palms is fantastic , it gives the feeling of you holding the camera and inside the sence it self ,good work , keep up mate

Beautiful work Erik!

I specially like the composition of the piece and the way the whole scene moves toward the point of origin.
I think there is a small issue in this piece.

The first thing that starts to scratch the eyes are is the perspective of details. Judging by the mountains, clouds and the rocky cliffs, one expects a really deeeeeeeep distance in the scene. I personally believe that those palm trees in the far hills, and even the middle hills, look way too large to be real. Some of them on the far right look half as high as the 3rd cliff in the left; while naturally, they would have been simply invisible individually. And I think this is damaging the positive impact of the perspective.

Another minor issue is with the darker cloud. In my humble opinion it looks a bit 2d and teen for such a dark cloud. This can be solved with a few fuzzy and misty brushed on the top side of it.

What works best in my view is the whole depth of field, that like I said, is basically overwhelming. And I think the direction of light is a great complement to that.

Altogether a very nice piece man!

My father grew up in Haiti, and I spent a good chunk of my childhood summers there. My heart breaks for this beautiful country and its beautiful people. Thank you for creating such a gorgeous piece!

I'm Haitian, but I was born in America and never stepped foot into Haiti. Now, ever since the earthquake, I really wish I HAD gone to Haiti to see this beautiful place... I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure Haiti is still a beautiful place, but the media has immensely shrouded the country's beauty with the destruction and ferocity of the earthquake... D:

OMG this is beautiful reminds me of where i grew up in haiti a somewhat similar place. this just breathtaking you really captured the calmness and warmth of the area. i am totaly in love with this. and im not saying its bad but i disagree with the critique haiti has a bit abnormal landscape and a cliff view like this is possible. although it may seem off.

thank you, I really appreciate your comment. :) I'm glad to hear someone's opinion who has actually lived there! I guess it's a place full of fascinating and gorgeous landscapes. I'd love to visit it myself one day. :)
