This is my contribution for Desktopography 2011, a fine compilation of wallpapers for your desktop. The image is available in several resolutions up to 2560*1440 px on the official Desktopography website. You may expect some downtimes today, it seems the servers can hardly handle the traffic. :-P

I just critiqed the second of these two pieces. However this one showes the destructive power, while also showing the regenerative rebirth. Again the lava could be drawn differentely but the actual geological processes are undefined in this location and the darkening sky gives a foreshadowing of something being very wrong, not with the earth, but with the characters, if this were a book. The scorched vegitation being lit up on the right side is a good representation of the destructive power, through regenerative rebirth. Sort of like "this is not good, but the earth needs a through go over once and a while." It also makes it seem like, though you may not know it, you know that volcaninc soil is some of the most fertile in the world.
